For those who want to take greater control of their investments with high returns and a reasonable amount of risk, Kotak Mahindra Old Mutual Life Insurance offers a fund with unique features - the Dynamic Floor Fund. DFF benefits in a strong market but protects against sharp losses in a weak market, through active fund management, that aims to protect net investment.
The Fund works to give your capital maximum market exposure at all times with a 'floor' set slightly below the market level. You earn as the market rises, and the 'floor' is periodically reviewed to a higher level. If the market starts to fall, and hits the 'floor', the invested amount is pulled out of equity and put in risk-free debt instruments till the time the market gets back to the 'floor' level, at which point the amount is invested back in equities for higher returns.
This allows you to capitalize on the market gains, but protects the Fund Value when the market slides.
Now See below table and Graph a live example of a massive fall which Sensex has faced.
